The aims of yoga include the ability to gain balance and control in one's life, to provide one with a sense of calm amidst life's storms and to generate a feeling of lightness and liberation from the various limitations of one's body. But for anyone who suffers painful periods, it's easy to feel that yoga during these times can seem simply too difficult, even pointless, particularly when all you want to do is lie in bed with a hot water bottle, take painkillers and usually while feeling quite sad and sorry for oneself. read more

I have been doing yoga with Shayna for about 5 years now. I can't remember exactly how long ago Adho Mukha Vrksasana (full arm balance) was introduced; I do remember feeling excited by the physicality of the pose, though also surprised - was this yoga?? read more

Yoga enhances everything you do in life. But everything you do does not assist progress in yoga, it can detract from it. The good that comes about from yoga is disseminated amongst the myriad of daily activities that you engage in. Alas, the good derived from your activities or daily tasks does not flow back into your yoga. It is a one way street. read more
